The Wizards, the Pacers, the Celtics and the Bulls were the only outfits suiting up to play, but all of them laid it all on the floor for everyone to see. While it may take a while before betting odds for the regular season games post-All-Star break appears, we were at least treated to two fantastic games that are the perfect opener to the star-studded weekend at New Orleans.
Washington Wizards 111-98 Indiana Pacers
Washington just reminded everyone in the entire league of just how dangerous their team can be with a comfortable victory over the Indiana Pacers. Otto Porter Jr. is the star man in a starting unit that completely overwhelmed Paul George and his Pacers.
One of the most interesting stats of the night were three three-point field goals: Washington made 15 of their 29 long-range attempts, completely overshadowing Indiana’s four three-point goals. The Wizards’ productivity from three is one of the biggest reasons for such a lopsided score.
Boston Celtics 103-104 Chicago Bulls
The United Center were treated to a masterful exhibition of basketball after their Chicago Bulls fought end-to-end with the Boston Celtics to emerge as 103-104 winners.
Isaiah Thomas popped off for the green shirts, scoring 29 points, dishing seven assists and making four three-pointers. Kelly Olynyk also had a productive offensive night for the Celtics, ending the night with 17 points on the back of seven rebounds and four assists.
However, strong outings from Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Robin Lopez helped the Bulls barely keep the Celtics out of the win column. While the Bulls are still far from perfect, they can at least head to the All-Star break in a happier mood.
